Eligibility for VA Medical Benefits Package
All veterans are potentially eligble to receive benefits if they had active service in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, the Coast Guard or the Merchant Marines (during WWII). A dishonorable discharge will make the veteran ineligible. National Guard and Reservists who are called to active duty by Executive Order also qualify.
In regards to long-term care, there may be a waiting list for VA nursing homes, but the benefits can go a long way in regards to making long-term care affordable for veterans and their spouses.
