It may be hard to believe, but one out of every four families in the United States has an aging loved on being cared for by the family in some way. That could mean around the clock live-in care, or simply help with shopping and transportation.
Because the Baby Boomers are aging, it is expected that elder care will surpass childcare as the main challenge working adults will face. That means that employers will be dealing with the challenges, as well.
Caring for an aging loved one can be rewarding, but caregiver stress is a real problem, especially when the caregiver has to care for children or maintain a job simultaneously.
Several options are available to help ease the burden of caregiving, including:
- Respite
- In-home care
- Social services
- Family
- Friends
- Churches
- Non-profit organizations
We will take a closer look at each in upcoming blog posts.
