Comprehensive plans are designed to allow people to stay home longer and assist in the transitions to other levels of care as needed. These plans will cover your long term care including in home care, adult daycare, assisted living and nursing home care. This is a more expensive plan as it encompasses both home care and facility care, allowing for more options when making decisions about your care. Comprehensive plans account for the majority of plans sold.
Facility only plans are designed for those that are unable to stay home. These plans will aide in covering the costs for assisted living or nursing home care, but will not be able to be used for any in home care costs. Facility only plans are less expensive than comprehensive plans, but do not allow for one the flexibility to stay home as long as possible. This type of plan is generally for those applicants that do not have close family to help with their long term care.
