One of the best ways for seniors to put off the aging process is to stay active. This can be difficult as people age due to sore joints, fragile bones or even feeling more tired than you have in the past. Being active doesn’t mean pushing yourself to the limits. There are easy ways to keep moving without taxing your body’s limited resources.

Take a Walk

The fall is a great time to take a walk outside. A cool fall day can be warm enough to walk with a light coat while not being too hot so you get over heated. It may not feel like exercise, but it is a great way to get the blood flowing and to enjoy the limited time you have left outside before the winter comes.

Stroll around the Mall

If it gets too cold outside, or the weather is not cooperating, why not take a stroll around the mall. Most indoor malls have plenty of space for you to get some exercise. While you are there you can also get a bite to eat, do some window shopping or just people watch. You can enjoy all the benefits without the interference of the weather.

Swimming

Joining a gym or even the local YMCA is a great way to keep seniors active and is a great way to get access to a swimming pool. Swimming is low impact, great for aching joints and a full body workout.
