As you spend time with your loved one at home, you’ll likely find yourself wanting to dream-up some entertaining activities for him or her to do.  One thing to keep in mind during your search for activities that suite your loved one’s lifestyle is that most anything you do on a daily basis can fall into the category of “activity.”  In other words, while trips to the zoo or leisurely afternoon lunches at favorite restaurants are nice, neither of these options are always amenable.  Moreover, neither of these are even necessary to keep your loved on company or feeling entertained.  Remember that overall, your loved one likely just wants to feel included and valuable.

That said, you might start to both realize and appreciate that you can find ways to make everyday activities such as grocery shopping or even laundry both engaging and entertaining.  For instance, if you have household chores to do, then you can include your loved one by asking him or her to hold laundry baskets or bring you an easily reachable object.  If dusting, then simply ask him or her to hold objects while you dust underneath them.  Any number of activities such as these—if performed in an enthusiastic and engaging manner—can make your loved one feel important and valuable.

While daily chores and trips to the grocery store may not seem—at least initially—like those ideal types of activities you’d dreamed-up in your head, they can provide invaluable opportunities for you to bond and reconnect with your loved one.  In the end, you’ll likely cherish these memories of so-called “mundane” events with your loved one just as much, if not more, than many of the others.
