Elder abuse is a horrible thing for both a person and their family to go through. If you suspect that an elderly loved one might be the victim of abuse, who can you turn to for help? There are several agencies that are available for you to turn to and report elder abuse.

Adult Protective Services

The name of this agency might vary from state to state, but they exist in some form. They are a public agency that exists for the purpose of investigating and stopping elder abuse. Many of these agencies also offer support, treatment options and law enforcement contacts in the case of elderly abuse. If contacted, they will investigate and if abuse or neglect is found then they will assist the person and their family in protecting the victim.

Long Term Care Ombudsman

This person is responsible for taking complaints against nursing homes and extended care facilities. If you have a complaint against a care facility, reporting it to the Long Term Care ombudsman will prompt them to investigate and report their findings.

Law Enforcement

Sexual assault or physical abuse is the domain of local law enforcement. If you see signs of sexual or physical abuse, the first place to go is to local police. They may assist in contacting secondary agencies, but they will also investigate criminal charges for elder abuse.

Finally turn to Stano Law group for legal assistance. We are elder care experts that can help!
